Transparency sucks! At least in Cycles, it always takes so long to render. That said, it really is my fault for not deciding on what to do until yesterday. Oh well, I did what I could and then covered up render artifacts with layer effects.
I really should start this weeks render Monday...

Not too special of a render, but I did at least upgrade Belle with all the updates makes from Asuna to Silica. (More defined face, legs, shoulders, and actual feet with toes)
I've got a few more people I want to model... but I really need to reuse more of my character models and start working on more backgrounds. So, I'll probably use Belle (and Silica since she's only been in 1 render) more over the coming weeks.

Early render this week --- a "gift" for a friend of mine. With friends like me, who needs enemies?

This render was suggested by papersak! Though, I doubt even she had a clue how it was going to turn out.
Despite this being another of my last-minute works, I spend nearly all of Saturday setting up the marshmallows (more particle physics!) and all of the night rendering it. (2 renders, spread out over 8 hours, each with color, depth, and normal portions) Fortunately I didn't have to make any major changes to the boos from the previous weeks' renders --- with the exception of the half-choco and marshmallow-stuffed boos.

More fun with particles and rigid bodies! Oh also long render times (3k+ frames) and massive GIMP-side edits (17 layers).
Glass transparency can be very intensive... and combined with a bundle of Boos, left some very hard to remove noise (some of which can still be seen in the shadows); not to mention, the Boos use a unique type of transparency, such that their 'stomachs' are not visible except through an open mouth.
Also, while the rigid bodies made filling the container easier... I don't quite understand how none of the Boos were able to roll out the front. It worked if I used 1 Boo, but any more than that and they'd hover above the hole --- weird. That said, I did cheat and manually rotate a few --- which may or may not be obvious as one of them is trying to phase through the glass.

Felt like doing something with Sunako again. This is the 4th dress of hers I've gotten to model --- fortunately this one was much less intricate than the rest.

Yesterday was papersak's birthday, so being the great guy I am... I started this render at noon yesterday, showed it to her around 11PM, and finally finished it around 11:30PM. (Though, I had worked on the Boo model all week, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is awesome. :D)

Finally, the model I've been working on the past 2 weeks! Hopefully it lives up to my loli-loving friend's standards. Anyway... had a lot of fun making her model; got to put the shrinkwrap modifier to use with designing (and rigging) her clothing. As for the flowers, finally got some use out of 'group' particle duplication; the fields are made up of 5 distinct flower/grass models with a random variation in rotation and size --- and better yet, the color is based on each individual flower's location!

I'm still working on that render for a friend; I figured that I've already spent two weeks on it... it would be a shame to rush the final details and background. So, in the mean time you get a (relatively) simple render.

Quick and simple render since I'm working on a new model for a friend. Also, got a chance to test out the more animation integrated physics... turns out even when I create the world's physics, I suck at pool.

So, Cycles didn't quite like the layout of the hallway and was taking far too long to render it. I guess I always knew that Cycles had issues with indoor scenes... but this is the first time I've actually wanted to show a ceiling ~ so I wasn't able to cheat with the open top.
I ended up rendering anyway, but even after a few hours it wasn't anywhere near what I wanted. So, I took what I had and heavily touched it up in GIMP --- sacrificing the original realistic coloration for something far more red and harshly contrasted.

Anyway... I think I need to fix Msyu's face (And hopefully not get punched by her for saying that) since I think the eye mapping looks a bit weird from other angles. Also probably need to learn rigging a bit better so that I don't need to do as many post-rigging / post-rendering fixes to her body.

A bit late in posting today... First off, held off my original idea thanks to a suggestion to improve it (from papersak) because it would require an additional model; secondly a friend came over and one thing lead to another... and we were slaying British zombies. --- So this morning I got to work on a Sword Art Online / World God Only Knows parody with a hint of Bomberman.

Yui took a bit longer than I hoped, even using Asuna as a base, so I didn't get a really fancy background made --- despite working well into Sunday on this.
Anyway... Sword Art Online's 25th ep was yesterday --- and it was amazing! Seeing as volume 11 of the light novel won't be fully translated for a bit... I might just start reading the side stories now.

This was meant to be a simple 3D recreation of the coin game from Nintendo Land --- but it seems even my good computer has trouble with glass inside glass rendering. Blah!
That said... Blender actually surprised me. In the past, glass transparency didn't translate to alpha transparency... meaning I would have been somewhat screwed by rendering glass on a transparent background and then adding it in later via GIMP --- but actually, it seems cycles render took that into consideration. Woo!

Anyway, just got my Wii U before the break! Only have Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U at the moment (waiting on Sonic Racing to arrive) but have been enjoying it so far. I honestly didn't expect too much out of Nintendo Land, but the games are damn fun and quite a bit more in depth than I had thought! Single player is fine but 5 player is where the real action comes in; several heart attacks were barely avoided during Mario Chase.
Also, I think I might be addicted to Miiverse... I've been doing a ton of hand-drawn Bomberman art; one for every time the game has offered me a chance (and I've been particularly glad / aggravated.) So... that said... add 'picano' (via Miiverse so I get the request) if you'd like a little Bomberman in your Wii U!

Finally, Sirius! Well... actually this is my 2nd model of him ~ my first one was lost in a harddrive malfunction. Anyway... I like this one better as he is more true to the game than he is to the box art.

Spent a lot of time today fixing up con videos / uploading more con & food stuff to tumblr while this was rendering!
It's not quite as smooth as I wanted... but it seems the more emission surfaces (all the lava) make it far more grainy at lower passes and make each pass render so much slower... Oh well, I plan to (re)model one more character from 64 and then make one final render before I end this stretch of renders. (Note: That doesn't mean I'm stopping Bomberman 64 renders! Might take a break from it though while I do some more work on my human models)

Still recovering from the awesome time that was Nebraskon! Finally finished this render for the past week.
I did take a few liberties with Artemis's design... somewhere in between the box art and the game art. Anyway... enjoy and keep watch on my tumblr for Nebraskon stuffs!

So much slacking! And yet... so much not slacking. And yet... so much still to do. This render comes quite a bit later in the day because (in addition to slacking) I was working on my cosplay and brushing up on my team Brawl skills with papersak for Nebraskon.
I hope Regulus looks decent, as I tried to stick to a 64 style while upgrading part aesthetics with higher poly counts and better materials. That said... the background was mashed together in about 10 minutes.

Not feeling well so... this is kind of a lazy render. Simple shape + simple texture + displacement mapping = a 3D rendition of the most horrifying thing I have ever seen. The gourmet world is a truly amazing and terrifying place.

I decided to recreate a favorite scene from SAO so far --- it's not quite accurate to the order portrayed in the anime... but I still have not actually modeled toes on her feet. Just hide the details you don't want kno.... crap why I am writing this in the description?

The model is (mostly) done! The major upgrades to this from my Belle model? The nose and mouth are now physically part of the face! (The ears aren't this time --- but only because it is based off Belle, not Sunako directly) Also, the breasts and legs are a bit more physically accurate than before thanks to some extra loop-cuts and some simple vertex manipulation.
Anyway, Kirito is a lucky guy...

I wasn't able to finish my planned 3D this week so I'll be carrying it over into the next week. This scenery happens to be level 74 of Sword Art Online (an anime about an MMORPG, kinda .hack-ish) and was going to be used in conjunction with a character model which is mostly complete but untextured and unrigged. I had hoped to finish it up yesterday / today, but a self-incurred Frisbee injury to my already Bomberman Land damaged arm has been a fair bit more painful than expected.
I'm hoping that an extra week allows me to do justice to this model!

Also, I once again ask that you check out my Tumblr! While all the 3D I post there is posted here first, I might make some extra comments and well --- I take a ton of pictures of food, because food is awesome!

I'm thinking I might try an outdoors scene next... my laptop has miraculously recovered from its key/mouse disorders so it's now time to try killing it with some non-particle based grass.

Blender 2.64 beta is looking good! Sadly, this was not rendered in it; despite running at a faster speed, I just couldn't make use of it yet due to some textures mysteriously disappearing. 2.64 didn't crash, unlike 2.63, but I'm guessing they simply fixed the memory related crashes and haven't fully fixed the memory limiting issues.
Anyway... for those curious, she's reading Air Gear!

Alright, first Belle work with real effort put into the background and details! I started out by playing around with the lighting, making my room a fair bit more ambient than it is in real life; though, its two layered lighting is nowhere near as complex as the 8 layers used in 'Forsaken'.
Then I experimented with the hair / fur a bit, trying to add some detail to individual strands --- as bump-mapping didn't pan out --- via some pseudo-random line shading.
Also, there was some graininess left over (it seems dept blur requires a lot more passes to smooth out properly) so I partially overlaid a despeckled copy. (Maybe next time I'll just use the ol' render to a higher res and resize trick?)
On a side note... I probably need a new laptop keyboard --- I can no longer capitalize 's' via either shift or 'q' and 'z' via left shift.

Back from vacation! Tried recreating some of the awesome waffles from my trip but... Cycles wasn't exactly cooperating. Seems my waffle geometry hit some sort of limit, causing lots of freezing unless specific steps were taken; this didn't lend well to testing and retesting textures to get the look just right. Blah!

It's been a while since I've rendered Belle. Unfortunately, Cycles does not yet support hair natively and I really don't want to try combining two drastically separate renders just to get it to work.
Anyway... I will probably be updating her model more over time. I would especially like to improve the hair with some bump mapping for more of a strandish look.
Not entirely sure if I'll finish a brand new render this coming week --- gonna take a trip down to Colorado for my Dad's 93rd birthday. Going with papersak and staying at my best friend's! ^_^

Probably the most work I've put into a single model... ever. Sunako's model here is based off of a friend's custom character's model which in turn is based off my Masakaki model. A bit more muscle tone (...as much as this little girl has...) and, more importantly, hands have been created from scratch for this purpose; so many vertices. ;_;
Anyway, I suggest that you check out Shiki! It's available on Hulu through Funimation (subbed and currently being dubbed). Also, more importantly, it is by Noitamina --- the creators of [C] Control!

Even more Shana related stuff... woohoo! Not too much to say on this one, the bread was by far the most complex part of this --- in model, texture, and render time. Shana is actually modeled from the Muru Muru model in the Future Diary render (of course, made to match Shana-Tan).

This is actually somewhat of a lazy render, since the model itself was really simple. The lighting on the other hand required some work; outside lighting is completely "legit" but the internal lighting is a combination of a single intense light / particle based emitters on a separate layer / GIMP magic.

I didn't go in to as much detail as I could have (costumes, matching colors / faces better) but my main focus was definitely the elemental bombs. I had considered basing the bombs off the Bomberman 64 The Second Attack... but I'd rather do a separate render featuring all of those.

Spring break is far too short. Anyway... messed with the newest Blender and it's cycles render engine for this one. It's nice but rather slow on my computers, but it's still a work in progress and it has some very nice default shader settings.

Mario Party 9 is... different. It's not exactly bad, it's just not exactly Mario Party either. That said, it's far better than 8 graphically and minigame-wise. Also, being able to fit in more than 1 map per multiplayer-gaming session is kinda nice.

One week of school down! This schedule is pretty laid back but... I think I may have overdone it a bit with work this week; Tuesday/Thursday I was tired as hell.

So yeah, this latest render... I got as far as edible Kirby then lost track of what I wanted to do. So, edible Kirbies on a background of clouds, rainbows, and stars. Didn't come out quite how I wanted... and, after a week of being awake far longer than normal, I'm too tired to fix it. So... this is the quick, lazy, non-wallpaper, 3D of the week!
In other news... I cannot believe that the moon was playable in Bomberman Hero; seriously, who would even attempt rapidly pressing start while starting up to get to it? (...you know, aside from that being the Bomberman 64 battle stage cheat...) It was rather cool but... just like the rest of Bomberman Hero... short and easy. (And nothing like the other two 64 ones. What kind of Bomberman game doesn't have multiplayer? >.<)

Speaking of hell... I just got Bomberman 64 the 2nd Attack this Friday and am on my way to completing it for the first time. It is quite hard, despite being able to take up to 10 hits (vs 1 or 2 from the first game).

This render is the true celebration of beating Bomberman 64. I still haven't had time to collect the rest of the costume pieces on hard mode but... not too much time to do so.
School / work has been keeping me busy but the good news about that is... I'm getting a chance to create my own Bomberman (2D) game in game design. It's coming along pretty nicely... but, sadly, I don't think I'll have time to do much past the basics.

Just a simple render. Was gonna play around with some blue fire... but realized I would need a lot more time to get the settings just right.
Also, upgraded blender to the stable 2.5 and it messed up some of my custom settings... so getting those back in working order. I really should start my render work on Monday instead of waiting until Saturday to do everything.

First off, not feeling so well... so this is just a quick render. Secondly, 爆ボンバーマンが大好き! Finally got a copy of Bomberman 64 (how I never purchased it the first time around... I'll never know). I'm a lot better at the levels now than when I was younger... and also I can use the rapid-start cheat to get the extra battle stages with ease now.

Got back from my roadtrip with papersak late Wednesday night. Lots of late night gaming the first night, waking up ridiculously early (but not actually tired o.O) the next morning, wishing my Dad a happy 90th, taking 4+ our detour to play DDR, and then preparing to leave... woo!
Everything except for the traffic was awesome. Hence... this render. Though, it doesn't even come close to showing the sheer amount of unnecessary waiting.

So, one of my oldest friends (He's been a pain in my ass since Kindergarten!) is getting married. Gotta say, it's unexpected. For the longest time I was sure that he reproduced asexually.
Anyway, next week will likely be a lazier render. Starting Monday I'll be on my way to Colorado to celebrate my Dad's 90th! Luckily, papersak will be serving as my navigator.

A video as I promised! The quality of animation kinda sucks... but I was expecting that --- after all this was my first attempting at animating in Blender 2.5. That said... I HATE IT. It seems unnecessarily complicated... and worse yet... being able to key-frame layers isn't even in this version! You know how much easier that would have made this particular project? ;_;

So, I've finally started my summer study of Kanji; one week down, 20 kanji memorized. Woo!
As for this week's art... I decided to render my namesake. (pikachu → picano). Also, I've made some modifications to the Wallpapers section; now it is grouped into pages of 10 and I am working on a key word search system. (Which, if I actually make any progress on it... will be incorporate into the rest of the site) This is admittedly another quick render. I've managed to both slack off and do a lot of work at the same time, somehow.

Very simple render. This is my 2nd project in Blender 2.5 and it's still a bit of a pain to get around... At the very least, although the interface is completely different, I can use the built-in search to find changed hot keys / locations. I was going to play with the smoke simulator... but blah, I don't want to sit through a video tutorial right now.

So yeah, rather simple idea since I've been watching Mind Shift and other World Order stuff. Digi is of course because it's for papersak but I also took some liberty with the setting, transforming it into a Bomber Shrine.

As I had mentioned before... I wanted to do something reminiscent of Samurai Jack... and here it is! This here is based off a battle from the first episode of season 4: Samurai vs Ninja.
Despite how it may look, this is a 3D piece (with slight touch-ups in GIMP to remove unwanted outlines). I've tried to stay true to Samurai Jack's art style --- specifically the light vs dark theme of the aforementioned episode.

Wasn't as bad as I thought. Actually, it went pretty well --- got to spend a lot of time with paper. ^_^ But also, learning Japanese is exhausting / fun. Just about done studying / testing over Hiragana.
So... a while back I managed to get paper to play うたわれるもの (Utawarerumono) and she's almost done now. Hopefully she won't be too annoyed with the hentai scenes... It is a great game after all, and the anime while covering all the important scenes doesn't do every bit the justice it deserves.

Playing Mario Party 3 on my Wii (woo hacking!) has reminded me just how frustratingly unfair the hard AI in that game is. Stealing from the player in last place, especially when he has the least coins is simply low...
Then again, I guess I have to respect them for that. I would do the same thing to my best friends. And my girlfriend would do the exact same to me...

Realized I forgot something. The final tileset actually did have some custom faced block... the eye block! Unfortunately, I realized that I also forgot another block set... world 6 included some distorted-faced sad block of a green color... very similar to that of world 7... But I decided not to fix that... why? Symmetry! That unbalances the entire image! >.<

No I haven't forgotten about my 1 update a week thing! The following... is a "game demo" from the last 3 weeks of my computer graphics class. Exe compiled for windows (I'll upload a mac executable as well once I add a site section for this). Requirements? Hell if I know... it runs on my laptop (AMD Turion 64x2, 2GB RAM). Will it ever become an actual game? Probably not... but Unity is a fun program to toy with --- and it works almost flawlessly with Blender.

Quite a few updates! I fixed up the requests section a bit, added several "new" images, added a short - rather non-descriptive about section and fixed up a few layout segments (such as the paw print layout). I am impatiently awaiting the return of Angel (Kimi)! Can't wait for her to get back... won't leave her alone for a second!

Updated! Woo! Only a bit late... Well, as you see I'm cutting down the number of Wall Paper resolutions I produce, not of of bandwidth concerns... but merely because of the rendering time it took thanks to the wonderfully beautiful but slow YAFRAY. Resizing via image editors just doesn't do 3D piece justice... Hope to get some catgirls drawn and another 3D piece done this month, but... I've been adicted to playing Advance Wars DS and Lunar DS the past week. ^_^

Sorry for lack of "news", didn't think there was anything worth mentioning that a picture below wouldn't handle. Anyway... just messing around, as you'll notice the site borders are now animated. Find any problem with them, notify me about it (IM or email); do note, if you have an increased text size your border images may not line up and appear to be off timed, or... the first time you load these images they also might be off-synched.

Added 1 drawing... yeah I've been lazy tho I promised not to. Well kinda... I have a couple of pieces in the works which can't be shown before hand thanks to the rules of TTK's contest in the warppipe.com art forum. Also... I'm working on creating sonic characters in blender, seems easy enough... hope I don't dissappoint.

One month since last post woo! Ok.. Surf Junky turned out to be a scam.... Oh well, nothing lost there sept a few minutes of clicking. Stuff's been slow.. not much to report. A new friends on the warppipe forums "wepideke" has converted Starfox episode 4 to... Quicktime MOV! Less filesize, same quality! Anyway... working on drawings and such... remember I take some requests. Playing SF:ASS still, having fun unlocking new stuff and "josting" via standing on arwings (or wolven) and shooting rocket lanuchers!

I have spent most of this past week playing Starfox: Assault for the Nintendo Gamecube. I must say this is the best game I have played in a while, although it does have its problems... Voice acting around the start of the game really sucks but the action, graphics, and especially music all helped redeem this title. Over the weekend I have had the joy of playing and unlocking most of the multiplayer secrets! In other news, I'm still woking on an avi convert of Episode 4... Episode 5 ideas and music are being worked on simultaneously with this other task.

Starfox Episode 4 is done! (for the most part) Check out either the starfox 3d renderings page or WIP's starfox page. I will be adding character dialouge and probably more sound effects within the week. Hope ya like it so far. Also.. gonna convert it from WMV to AVI.

Been kinda lazy over the holidays nothing really new. Been messing around with my "GBA Movie Player" and watching catgirls, anime, and my own animations on the DS! I Should have something up soon about this last Halo 2 party I went to. Also, been working on more GIMP made catgirls.

Made a few updates that I forgot to mention. New wallpaper, sample shown below... Fixed up all the rants, and within a few minutes of this update I'll have a short hand drawn (and GIMP traced) animation called "fractal".
